Just a short 10-minute drive from Dunsborough, the Sensei Pots Studio Gallery offers a unique and immersive experience, allowing visitors to look into the studio and gain insight into Ian’s creative process. At times, guests may also have the opportunity to watch Ian at work on the wheel.
The gallery offers a continuous exhibition of Ian’s latest art forms and ornamental works that serve as captivating focal points, along with a wide variety of functional ceramics, including bowls, teapots, teacups, vases, and more.

Origin of Sensei Pots
In 1987 and at the age of 22, Ian had begun to develop his individual style and decided to set up his own studio on Caves Road in Quindalup Western Australia. His intention was to supply work to art galleries, and it was warmly received.
In 1991, Ian made the decision to establish his own studio gallery, Sensei Pots. It was a simple set up – a shed, with a gallery space at the front, studio workshop and living quarters. Ian named his gallery Sensei Pots (Sensei meaning ‘teacher’ in Japanese), as a tribute to the Japanese Master Potters who, along with the rich ceramic traditions of China, formed a major influence in the early years of Ian’s development as a young potter.
Sensei Pots relocated to Hemsley Road Yallingup in the late 1990s and is today located in Quedjinup, on the cape between Dunsborough and Yallingup in Western Australia.
